Out of the hole…

This year there is an event that happens every 13-17 years or so-the coming out of the cicadas. I know how they feel. Perhaps you as well. We have waited for the funk of Covid “restrictions” to lift, pass, or whatever terminology you prefer in describing this. And now it has begun to, and here in Baca County, CO, that has been rapid.

And for some reason it has been much more strange coming out of this past year’s practical and emotional situations than I would have thought. I’m sure this resonates in some way with at least most of you. I have begun to schedule and do things I haven’t done in a very long time-and that feels great! But it also feels strange. The strange is that it doesn’t feel like it’s been a long time. It really doesn’t. So these two are present at once…it’s great, it’s refreshing to do that which hasn’t been done in a while. And I know it’s been a while, but it seems like just yesterday as well. See what I mean? Strange.

So, into today-and tomorrow-we all go. The thing is, “Covid” isn’t over. And to some extent it never will be. I still don’t understand why it’s what it is to some folks, but in terms of being a Jesus person in a “post-Covid” world, the challenge is going to be dealing with the funk, the anger, the disappointment, the theology, and yes, the fear, that has been so prevalent for us this past part of our lives. You know, coming out of your hole.

So, my friends, Keep Calm and Keep Climbing-out of that hole.
